Tournaments for children and juniors in Attica 10

Children in Attica can play a tournament almost every month without leaving their part of the city. Kifisia has held its Sunday youth rapid well over a hundred times, the academy of Neo Psychiko runs a children’s rapid in two age groups, and both Neoi Vyronos and G.A.S. Cholargou hold rapids for players under sixteen. The Cholargos event takes children from other clubs, with or without a federation licence, and plays a rated and an unrated group.

Several open rapids make room for the young in the same way. Keratsini adds an unrated group for younger children to its seasonal rapid, Pagkrati has a long tradition of school rapids, and the rapids of Chalandri, Piraeus and Vyronas take young players too. Above them stands the Attica individual school championship, with qualifiers in the different sectors of the region and a final played in Piraeus in March. Entries go through the club or the school, and the notice of each event says which birth years may play in which group.
