Clubs in Athens and Attica that give chess lessons 14
Notes on this list
In Athens chess is learnt at a club. No separate school or private teacher with a public offer turned up; what the sources show is clubs running groups by age and level through the school year. Peristeri teaches from kindergarten age to adults, Neoi Vyronos sorts its children into groups by level and adds an adult beginners’ hour, Ilioupoli has separate days for adult beginners and for advanced adults, and Ampelokipoi fills its late afternoons with children’s groups.
Further out, Lefkippos in Vari runs an academy for children and teenagers and offers a trial lesson, the club of Nea Filadelfeia takes pupils of nearly any age, Panionios in Nea Smyrni has children’s groups and an adult group online, and the Irakleio club also works in schools. Korydallos is the only club whose fees could be read: a yearly registration, a monthly fee and free places on social grounds. Elsewhere the price is not published, and no page says in which language the lessons are given, so both are questions for the club. New groups start in September and October.
